Our vineyards are laid out in plots that are particularly suited to this type of cultivation by exposition, slope and the nature of the terrain. The size of the vineyards (two hectares) and the old oak wood that surrounds them have inspired more than one visitor to refer to them as "little Burgundy" in Tuscany. In fact, we're proud to acknowledge that in the culture of small vineyards and native vines, ours are evocative of great wines and their terroir.
In our new vineyard we are adopting the most modern techniques, which prescribe density in planting, and grafting that is targeted to a smaller production of exceptional grapes.
While we are employing the most advanced techniques, we are also maintaining with care and pride our historic allotment. For nearly thirty years it has produced Vino Nobile di Montepulciano according to the traditional discipline, allowing for varieties of grape that are used less frequently today but are still capable of providing unique notes and perfumes.
Le Tartufaie
area: 1 hectare
Vines: Sangiovese, Merlot.
Poggio Lamberto
area: 1 hectare
Vines: Prugnolo gentile, Canaiolo, Mammolo, Trebbiano, Malvasia.
The New Cellar
Currently in the planning phase, it will be in operation for the 2007 harvest. When the vines are up to full production capacity, there should be a vinification of roughly 100 quintals (10,000 kg) of grapes, equal to about 10,000 bottles of wine.
During vinification, temperature-controlled fermentation will take place in stainless steel vats with a computerized remontage system. The maturation, refining and ageing will occur in the wine cellar next to the farmhouse. The wine will be aged, depending on its type, in either barriques or traditional oak casks before refinement in the bottle.
